OnePlus has started delivering stable Android 17 updates to the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4. The release also signals the end of OxygenOS, since these two devices are the first to move over to ColorOS.

OxygenOS has long been OnePlus's customized layer on top of Android. It began as a near-stock experience with a handful of extra features, but over time it evolved into a version of Oppo's ColorOS tuned for global markets. Its retirement was therefore not a major surprise. When OnePlus scaled back most of its global operations, the company also announced that OxygenOS would be phased out and that existing devices would update to ColorOS.

The rollout begins in India, where ColorOS 17, built on Android 17, is reaching the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4. The software had been in beta for some time, and the start of the stable release now makes it available to regular users.

OnePlus described the update in upbeat terms: "ColorOS 17 is here, bringing a new wave of smarter experiences, smoother interactions, and more ways to make your phone work around you." The company said the update is built around the idea of "Flow with AI, Flow Everywhere." In its framing, technology should feel less like something users have to figure out and more like something that naturally keeps up with them. OnePlus said the aim is to make everyday interactions more fluid, help turn ideas into finished work with AI, and let people move between tasks, devices and experiences with less friction.

The timing is ahead of what the company had planned. OnePlus's original timeline placed the first updates on October 29, meaning the stable rollout has begun roughly a week early.

Only the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4 are included in this first wave. Other devices have been confirmed for the update, including the previous generation of flagships and a range of Nord models. The next wave is scheduled for October 30 and will include the OnePlus 13.

The update is expected to reach other regions in the coming days, although the source did not confirm specific dates beyond the India launch and the October 30 follow-up.

The change comes after a turbulent period for the brand. Reports have noted that the OnePlus 15 and other models fully sold out in the United States following the company's shutdown of most global operations, and OnePlus has also unveiled the OnePlus 16 with a 9,000 mAh battery.
